SEE ALSO...

Cystatin B Antibody (F-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects cystatin B protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-cystatin B antibody (F-5) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Cystatin B, also known as CSTB, plays a crucial role as a thiol protease inhibitor, forming complexes with proteases such as papain and cathepsins B, H, and L, which are essential for protein degradation and turnover within cells. Cystatin B is primarily located in the cytoplasm and is significantly expressed in the heart, liver, and kidney, where cystatin B serves to protect against the leakage of intracellular proteases from lysosomes, thereby maintaining cellular integrity and function. Dysregulation of cystatin B has been implicated in various pathological conditions, including neurodegenerative diseases, highlighting cystatin B′s importance in cellular homeostasis and potential as a therapeutic target.

Can cystatin B (F-5): sc-166561 monoclonal antibody be used to stain formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections?

Asked by: Randy McDonald
Thank you for your question. Yes, cystatin B (F-5): sc-166561 has been validated for use in IHC with paraffin-embedded sections. We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
