Cyflufenamid, an antimicrobial agent and fungicide, belongs to the nitroimidazole family of compounds. The mode of action of Cyflufenamid involves the inhibition of fungal cell wall synthesis. It selectively binds to the fungal cell wall, hindering the activity of a specific enzyme called chitin synthase. This enzyme plays a role in chitin production, a vital component of the fungal cell wall. By impeding chitin synthesis, the fungal cell wall weakens, ultimately leading to the demise of the fungus.
