Cyclosomatostatin is a peptide that functions as an inhibitor of growth hormone release. It acts by binding to somatostatin receptors on the surface of pituitary cells, thereby inhibiting the release of growth hormone. This inhibition occurs through the suppression of adenylate cyclase activity, leading to decreased levels of cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) within the cells.
