Curcumin-d6 is a deuterated form of curcumin, a natural compound derived from turmeric. Deuteration involves the substitution of hydrogen atoms with deuterium atoms, resulting in the formation of this modified version. Curcumin-d6 is a potent phenolic compound known for its anti-tumor properties, as well as its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects. It induces apoptosis in cancer cells, inhibits protein kinase C (PKC) activity triggered by phorbol ester, and reduces the production of inflammatory cytokines in peripheral blood monocytes and alveolar macrophages. It is a powerful inhibitor of EGFR tyrosine kinase and IκB kinase, and it also suppresses the activity of inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS), cyclooxygenase, and lipoxygenase.
