CTPB is an amide derivative also known as N-(4-chloro-3-trifluoromethyl-phenyl)-2-ethoxy-6-pentadecyl-benzamide. CTPB is an activator of p300 histone acetyltransferase (HAT) activity. HATs are groups of enzymes that play a important role in regulation of gene expression. CTPB may act to enhance p300 HAT-dependent transcriptional activation from in vitro assembled chromatin template. CTPB has also been noted to be a membrane-impermeable molecule that requires a carrier to move across the membrane barrier of cells.

I am interested in your product CTPB (CAS 586976-24-1) and use it for cell culture. However, you decribed it as a cell-impermeable compound. The product citations give the impression that this was just added to cells. can you clarify it? Thanks

Thank you for your question. CTPB is membrane-impermeable and requires a carrier to enter cells, here is a literature reference that may be helpful: Intrinsically fluorescent carbon nanospheres as a nuclear targeting vector: delivery of membrane-impermeable molecule to modulate gene expression in vivo: B.R. Selvi, et al.; Nano Lett. 8, 3182 (2008)
