SEE ALSO...

CTHRC1 Antibody (1G12) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects CTHRC1 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-CTHRC1 antibody (1G12) is available as a non-conjugated format. CTHRC1, or collagen triple helix repeat containing 1, is a 243 amino acid secreted protein primarily located in the extracellular matrix and features a collagen-like domain, which is crucial for structural role in tissue integrity and repair. CTHRC1 is expressed in two alternatively spliced isoforms, with one isoform notably found in calcified atherosclerotic plaques and chondrocyte-like cells. CTHRC1 functions as a negative regulator of collagen matrix deposition, which is vital in maintaining the balance of extracellular matrix components and preventing excessive fibrosis. CTHRC1 is implicated in the stabilization of ligand-receptor interactions within the Wnt signaling pathway, a critical pathway involved in cell proliferation and differentiation. CTHRC1 is observed in various cancers, including melanoma and breast carcinoma, where CTHRC1 may facilitate cancer cell migration and contribute to tissue invasion and metastasis. The gene encoding CTHRC1 is located on human chromosome 8, a region that spans nearly 146 million base pairs and contains over 800 genes, many of which are associated with diverse diseases and malignancies.

Can sc-293270: CTHRC1 (1G12) monoclonal antibody be used to stain formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections?

Asked by: Cweed
Thank you for your question. Yes, sc-293270: CTHRC1 (1G12) is recommended for use in IHC with paraffin-embedded sections. We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
