Cox-1 Antibody (6D317) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b antibody designed to detect Cyclooxygenase-1 (Cox-1), also known as Prostaglandin-Endoperoxide Synthase 1 (PTGS1). Cox-1 is a dimeric enzyme located primarily in the endoplasmic reticulum and nuclear envelope of cells, where Cox-1 catalyzes the conversion of arachidonic acid to prostaglandin H2, a crucial precursor in the synthesis of various prostaglandins. The structural features of Cox-1, including Cox-1′s heme group and binding sites, are essential for enzymatic activity and interaction with nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), making the understanding of Cox-1′s structure vital for drug development and therapeutic research. Constitutively expressed in most tissues, Cox-1 performs important "housekeeping" functions such as maintaining gastric mucosal integrity, regulating platelet aggregation, and controlling renal blood flow. Cox-1 (6D317) monoclonal antibody is raised against Cox-1 purified from ovine seminal vesicles and exhibits broad species reactivity, effectively recognizing Cox-1 from mouse, rat, human, and ovine sources in applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and flow cytometry (FCM). Anti-Cox-1 antibody (6D317) demonstrates minimal cross-reactivity, with slight (5%) reactivity to ovine Cox-2 and no cross-reactivity with human or mouse Cox-2. By targeting Cox-1, researchers can investigate Cox-1′s role in both normal physiological processes and in pathological conditions where prostaglandin synthesis is disrupted.
