Datasheets
  • Cox-1 Antibody (6D317) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b κ, cited in 1 publications, provided at 200 µg/ml
  • raised against Cox-1 purified from ovine seminal vesicles
  • recommended for detection of Cyclooxygenase-1 of mouse, rat, human and ovine origin by WB, IP, IF, IHC(P) and FCM; may cross-react with human recombinant, human platelet, rat and mouse Cox-1, and slightly (5%) with ovine Cox-2; non cross-reactive with human or mouse Cox-2
  • See Cox-1 (11): sc-19998 for Cox-1 antibody conjugates, including AC, HRP, FITC, PE, Alexa Fluor® 488, 594, 647, 680 and 790.
  • m-IgG2b BP-HRP and m-IgGκ BP-HRP are the preferred secondary detection reagents for Cox-1 Antibody (6D317) for WB and IHC(P) applications. These reagents are now offered in bundles with Cox-1 Antibody (6D317) (see ordering information below).

Cox-1 Antibody (6D317) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b antibody designed to detect Cyclooxygenase-1 (Cox-1), also known as Prostaglandin-Endoperoxide Synthase 1 (PTGS1). Cox-1 is a dimeric enzyme located primarily in the endoplasmic reticulum and nuclear envelope of cells, where Cox-1 catalyzes the conversion of arachidonic acid to prostaglandin H2, a crucial precursor in the synthesis of various prostaglandins. The structural features of Cox-1, including Cox-1′s heme group and binding sites, are essential for enzymatic activity and interaction with nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), making the understanding of Cox-1′s structure vital for drug development and therapeutic research. Constitutively expressed in most tissues, Cox-1 performs important "housekeeping" functions such as maintaining gastric mucosal integrity, regulating platelet aggregation, and controlling renal blood flow. Cox-1 (6D317) monoclonal antibody is raised against Cox-1 purified from ovine seminal vesicles and exhibits broad species reactivity, effectively recognizing Cox-1 from mouse, rat, human, and ovine sources in applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and flow cytometry (FCM). Anti-Cox-1 antibody (6D317) demonstrates minimal cross-reactivity, with slight (5%) reactivity to ovine Cox-2 and no cross-reactivity with human or mouse Cox-2. By targeting Cox-1, researchers can investigate Cox-1′s role in both normal physiological processes and in pathological conditions where prostaglandin synthesis is disrupted.

Does Cox-1 antibody work with C-elegans mitochondria protein?

Asked by: peng27
Thank you for your question. sc-7087 Cox-1 has not been tested for C-elegans. We recommend the antibody for mouse, rat, human and ovine.

Can Cox-1 (6D317): sc-70877 monoclonal antibody be used to stain formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections?

Asked by: Germaine
Thank you for your question. Yes, Cox-1 (6D317): sc-70877 has been validated for use in IHC with paraffin-embedded sections. We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
