Concanavalin A is a plant lectin that is a T cell mitogen. It induces apoptosis in human fibroblasts. It serves as a powerful tool for biochemists and physiologists in exploring the structure and function of biological molecules. The protein interacts with carbohydrates, enabling researchers to investigate the interactions between carbohydrates and proteins. Concanavalin A has been instrumental in studying the structure and function of carbohydrates, proteins, and other biological molecules, providing a way to examine their structural characteristics and interactions.

i tried dissolving concanavalin A in PBS at a concentration of 2 mg/ml but unfortunately it produced a turbid solution. I am not quite sure whether I can use for IV injection in rats or not? hope you can help me with this issue thanks

Thank you for your question. All Santa Cruz Biotechnology, Inc. reagents are manufactured for in-vitro laboratory use only (RUO). They must not be used in medical diagnostics and they are not to be administered to humans or animals. Concanavalin A (CAS 11028-71-0) is soluble in water(slightly hazy), and PBS (5 mg/mL, slightly hazy). If it cannot be dissolved gentle heating and continual stirring the solvent may be necessary. The solution should always be prepared fresh to avoid precipitation of the solute.

What is this product soluble in?

Asked by: hawkeye11
Thank you for your question. The chemical, sc-203007, should be soluble in water and PBS. We do not have an exact value for water but PBS: soluble 4 % (w/v). We always recommend using solutions right away but if necessary after reconstitution, aliquot and freeze (-20°C). Stock solutions should be stable for up to 6 months at -20°C. If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact our Technical Service department by calling 800-457-3801 option 2, emailing scbt@scbt.com, or using the Live Chat function on our website.
