Coilin Antibody (Pdelta) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects the coilin protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and immunofluorescence (IF). Anti-coilin antibody (Pdelta) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Coilin plays a crucial role as the primary protein of nuclear coiled (Cajal) bodies, which are small nuclear organelles essential for RNA transcription and processing. These structures are vital for the assembly of the nucleolus during development, as they facilitate the recruitment of small nuclear ribonucleoproteins (snRNPs) and survival motor neuron (SMN) complex proteins. Coilin is a self-associating protein characterized by a nucleolar localization signal, which is critical for the proper formation and maintenance of Cajal bodies. The N-terminus of coilin contains the self-associating domain, while the C-terminus regulates the number of Cajal bodies present in the cell, highlighting the importance of its structural integrity in cellular function. Additionally, coilin directly binds to SMN proteins during the recruitment process, competing with SmB′ for SMN interactions, which underscores its significance in the assembly and function of these essential nuclear structures.
