CMV pp52 Antibody (CH16) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b antibody that detects CMV pp52 protein of CMV origin by western blotting (WB) and immunofluorescence (IF). Anti-CMV pp52 antibody (CH16) is available as the non-conjugated monoclonal isotype antibody. Cytomegalovirus (CMV), also known as human herpesvirus 5 (HHV-5), is a member of the herpes virus family, which includes other notable viruses such as herpes simplex virus types 1 and 2, Varicella Zoster Virus, and Epstein Barr virus. While CMV typically causes mild symptoms in healthy individuals, CMV can lead to severe complications in immunocompromised patients. CMV pp52 plays a crucial role as an accessory subunit of the viral DNA polymerase, facilitating the process of DNA replication, which is essential for viral propagation. CMV pp52′s function is particularly important because CMV pp52 enhances the efficiency of DNA synthesis, allowing the virus to replicate rapidly and establish infection. Additionally, CMV pp52 shares structural similarities with other DNA processivity factors, such as the UL42 protein from herpes simplex virus, highlighting CMV pp52′s significance in the viral life cycle and potential as a target for therapeutic intervention.
