CMV gH Antibody (0861) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects CMV gH protein of CMV origin by western blotting (WB) and immunofluorescence (IF). Anti-CMV gH antibody (0861) is available as the non-conjugated format. Cytomegalovirus (CMV), also known as human herpesvirus 5 (HHV-5), is a member of the herpes virus family, which includes other notable viruses such as herpes simplex virus types 1 and 2, Varicella Zoster Virus, and Epstein Barr virus. While CMV typically causes mild symptoms in healthy individuals, CMV can lead to severe complications in immunocompromised patients. CMV gH protein, or glycoprotein H, plays a critical role in viral ability to infect host cells. CMV gH forms a complex with other glycoproteins, specifically CMV gL and CMV gO, and works alongside CMV gB to facilitate binding and entry of virus into target cells. This interaction is crucial for viral lifecycle, as CMV gH allows CMV to effectively invade and replicate within host tissues. Additionally, CMV gH has been shown to activate Toll-like receptor 2 (TLR2), which triggers activation of NFκB and subsequent release of inflammatory cytokines, highlighting CMV gH importance in modulating host immune response during infection.
