Clostridium difficile Toxin A Antibody (PCG4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects Clostridium difficile Toxin A protein by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-Clostridium difficile Toxin A antibody (PCG4) is available as a non-conjugated format. Clostridium difficile Toxin A plays a critical role in the pathogenicity of Clostridium difficile, a major nosocomial pathogen responsible for antibiotic-associated colitis. This toxin disrupts intestinal epithelial cells, leading to severe inflammatory diarrhea. Structurally, Clostridium difficile Toxin A comprises multiple functional domains, including a receptor-binding domain that facilitates attachment to intestinal epithelial cell surface carbohydrates, and an enzymatic domain exhibiting glucosyltransferase activity. This unique structure enables modification of Rho family GTPases, which are crucial for maintaining cytoskeleton integrity and cell signaling pathways. Disruption of these pathways results in significant apoptosis of colonocytes, contributing to ulcer formation and pseudomembranes through activation of p38 MAPK, p53, and caspase-3. The ability of Clostridium difficile Toxin A to induce cellular damage underscores its importance in pathogenesis, making Clostridium difficile Toxin A (PCG4) antibody valuable for research and diagnostic applications.
