Cloflubicyne is a potent non-competitive GABA antagonist, convulsant, and laboratory insecticide. It is an organochlorine pesticide that works by disrupting the nervous system of the target organism. It is also a broad-spectrum antibiotic found to be particularly effective against Gram-negative bacteria. It inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase, an enzyme that is essential for DNA replication, transcription, and repair. This inhibition prevents the bacteria from replicating and spreading, ultimately leading to their death. Cloflubicyne can also inhibit certain proteins involved in bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to further bacterial death. In addition to its antibacterial effects, Cloflubicyne may act to have anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties.
