Clofibrate-d4 is a deuterium labeled analog of Clofibrate. Clofibrate is a ligand agonist for peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor α (PPARα). In studies utilizing rats treated with Clofibrate, cytochromes P450IVA1 and IVA3 are reported to be expressed in the liver. Further studies of cytochrome P450IVA1 and IVA3 expression in rat liver indicated that these enzymes are able to catalyze oxidation of fatty acids and prostaglandins.
