Clobetasol is a corticosteroid that functions as a potent anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive agent. It works by binding to the glucocorticoid receptor and modulating gene expression, leading to the suppression of pro-inflammatory cytokines and the inhibition of inflammatory mediators. This ultimately reduces the inflammatory response. It can inhibit the proliferation of various immune cells, such as T cells and mast cells, which play a role in the inflammatory process.
