Cis,Cis-Octadeca-9,12-dienol (Linoleyl alcohol) is an unsaturated fatty alcohol produced by the reduction of linoleic acid. Linoleyl alcohol is a non-ionizable substrate used in oxidation assays. Superoxide secretion after treatment with linoleyl alcohol-coated latex beads showed that neutrophils form a phagolysosome around linoleyl alcohol-coated latex beads does not allow superoxide to escape into the medium where it could be detected.
