Ciclopirox Olamine is a substituted pyridone antimycotic. It has activity against a broad spectrum of dermatophytes, yeasts, actinomycetes, molds, other fungi, and a variety of bacteria. Its efficacy in combating fungal infections has been assessed through in vitro studies. Ciclopirox Olamine is known for its ability to chelate metal ions. This chelating action disrupts metal-dependent enzymes that are for the survival and replication of certain organisms. Ciclopirox Olamine can be used to study the regulatory mechanisms of metal homeostasis in cells and its effects on cellular processes.
