Choleragenoid Antibody (7901) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects the Choleragenoid protein of Vibrio cholerae origin by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-Choleragenoid antibody (7901) is available as the non-conjugated isotype antibody. Choleragenoid protein, also known as the B subunit of cholera toxin, plays a crucial role in the pathogenicity of Vibrio cholerae, as Choleragenoid protein facilitates the entry of the A subunit into intestinal epithelial cells. Choleragenoid protein binds specifically to GM1-ganglioside receptors on the surface of these cells, which are essential for the toxin′s action. Binding of Choleragenoid protein to GM1-gangliosides not only directs the enzymatic A subunit to its target but also initiates a cascade of cellular events that lead to severe diarrhea, a hallmark of cholera infection. Understanding the interaction between Choleragenoid protein and GM1-gangliosides is vital for developing therapeutic strategies against cholera, as this interaction highlights potential targets for intervention in the toxin′s mechanism of action. Anti-Choleragenoid antibody (7901) serves as an invaluable tool for researchers studying cholera toxin and its effects on host cells.
