Chaetoglobosin A is a mycotoxic cytochalasan compound found in fungi of the Chaetomium species. It acts through multiple pathways, including the inhibition of pro-inflammatory cytokines, the induction of apoptosis, and the inhibition of angiogenesis. Additionally, Chaetoglobosin A may act to inhibit the activity of certain enzymes, including cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) and 5-lipoxygenase (5-LOX). The compound has been found to have antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and anti-cancer properties. In vitro studies have shown that Chaetoglobosin A can inhibit the growth of certain cancer cells, including human lung adenocarcinoma and colon cancer cells, and induce apoptosis in cell lines such as human breast cancer cells.
