Cetylpyridinium chloride monohydrate has been used to study the mechanisms of bacterial and virus inactivation by cationic quaternary ammonium detergents. It has also been used to study removal of emulsified oil from oily waste water and removal of emulsified food and mineral oils from waste water.
Soluble in water, chloroform, alcohol, ether (slightly), and benzenz (slightly).
