Cetirizine Methyl Ester is a modified oxidative metabolite of hydroxazine second generation histamine H1 receptor antagonist. As a second generation anti-histamine it binds with greater strength to the H1 receptor than the first generation and has been documented to have reduced brain penetration along with decreased binding to dopamine, serotonin, α-adrenergic, and calcium channel receptors.
