CERCAM Antibody (D-4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects CERCAM protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). CERCAM Antibody (D-4) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. CERCAM, or Cerebral endothelial cell adhesion molecule, is a 595 amino acid protein that plays a crucial role in cell adhesion, particularly in the blood-brain barrier. Localization to the endoplasmic reticulum suggests a role in processing and transport of proteins involved in cell adhesion. CERCAM shows high expression in secretory and nervous tissues, facilitating leukocyte transmigration across the blood-brain barrier - a critical process for immune surveillance in the central nervous system. Alternative splicing produces two CERCAM isoforms, contributing to functional diversity in various physiological contexts.
