SEE ALSO...

Centrin-2 Antibody (3F8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Centrin-2 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-Centrin-2 antibody (3F8) is available as a non-conjugated format. Centrin-2, an EF-hand protein, is essential for normal cell division and is predominantly located in the centrosomes, mitotic spindle poles, and basal bodies of cells. Expression in tissues with cilia, such as the retina and testis, highlights Centrin-2′s importance in cellular functions related to motility and signaling. Centrin-2 is also expressed in non-differentiated, non-ciliated retinal cells, such as retinoblastoma cells, as well as in liver, skeletal muscle, and cardiac muscle. Centrin-2′s role extends beyond cell division; Centrin-2 is involved in the organization of spindle pole morphology and the completion of cytokinesis, as evidenced by knockdown studies that demonstrate a requirement for Centrin-2 in centriole duplication. Additionally, Centrin-2 is implicated in nucleotide excision repair through association with the xeroderma pigmentosum group C protein, suggesting a critical link between cell division and DNA repair mechanisms. This multifaceted role underscores Centrin-2′s significance in maintaining cellular integrity and function across various tissues.
