CENP-K Antibody (40.3) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects the CENP-K protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-CENP-K antibody (40.3) is available as a non-conjugated format. CENP-K, also known as centromere protein K, P33, Solt, FKSG14, AF5alpha, or ICEN37, is a crucial 269 amino acid component of the CENPA-CAD complex, which is essential for proper assembly and function of the centromere during cell division. CENP-K is localized exclusively to the centromere, a specialized chromatin structure that plays a vital role in mitotic progression and chromosome segregation. The centromere serves as the attachment point for spindle fibers, ensuring accurate distribution of chromosomes to daughter cells. CENP-K′s involvement in the assembly and incorporation of kinetochore proteins into centromeres is critical for maintaining genomic stability. CENP-K is expressed at high levels in fetal liver tissue and at lower levels in adult placenta and lung, indicating its importance during development. Defects in the gene encoding CENP-K have been linked to acute leukemias, highlighting its potential role in carcinogenesis and the importance of studying CENP-K in cancer research.

I am using CENP-K (40.3): sc-81831 for immunofluorescence, what dilution of this antibody should I use?

Asked by: Trav11
Thank you for your question. We recommend a starting dilution of 1:50. However, optimal antibody concentration should be determined by titration. Please find our full immunofluorescence protocol here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunofluorescence-cell-staining
