SEE ALSO...

CENP-C Antibody (C-6) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects CENP-C protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-CENP-C antibody (C-6) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. CENP-C plays a crucial role in the assembly and function of kinetochores, which are essential for accurate chromosome segregation during cell division. Located on the fibers of the kinetochore, CENP-C serves as a vital organizing center that tightly associates with DNA, ensuring proper formation of a functional centromere. Any disruption in CENP-C function can lead to errors in mitotic progression, potentially resulting in aneuploidy and various diseases, including cancer. Studies have shown that CENP-C is lost from centromeres during herpes simplex virus 1 infection, leading to significant structural changes in the kinetochore, indicating that CENP-C regulation is critical throughout the cell cycle.
