Cefquinome sulfate is a broad-spectrum fourth-generation cephalosporin antibiotic. It is a compound derived from cephalosporin C. Cefquinome sulfate works by inhibiting the synthesis of the bacterial cell wall, leading to cell lysis and death. It is effective against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, including strains that are resistant to other antibiotics.. Due to its potency and low toxicity, cefquinome sulfate is used for the management of bacterial colonies.
