CDV surface envelope antigen Antibody (5-4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects CDV surface envelope antigen of CDV origin by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-CDV surface envelope antigen antibody (5-4) is available in a non-conjugated form, specifically designed for detecting the viral protein that plays a crucial role in viral invasion of host cells. Canine distemper virus (CDV), a member of the Morbillivirus genus, poses a significant threat to dogs and other carnivores, particularly affecting those between four months and four years old. CDV surface envelope antigen is essential for virus′s ability to attach to and penetrate host cells, facilitating subsequent replication of CDV within the central nervous system. Once inside, CDV targets glial cells and neurons, leading to viral-induced immunosuppression that can result in severe neurological damage, including demyelination. This process is particularly concerning as it can culminate in encephalomyelitis, a common cause of mortality associated with CDV infection. CDV persistence in the brain, characterized by non-cytolytic selective spread with limited viral budding, underscores the importance of monitoring CDV surface envelope antigen for effective diagnosis and research into potential therapeutic interventions.
