Datasheets
  • CD98 Antibody (F-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgM κ, cited in 6 publications, provided at 200 µg/ml
  • raised against a peptide mapping within an extracellular domain of CD98 of human origin
  • recommended for detection of CD98 of mouse, rat and human origin by WB, IP, IF, IHC(P) and ELISA; also reactive with additional species, including equine
  • See CD98 (E-5): sc-376815 for CD98 antibody conjugates, including AC, HRP, FITC, PE, Alexa Fluor® 488, 594, 647, 680 and 790.
  • At present, we have not yet completed the identification of the preferred secondary detection reagent(s) for CD98 Antibody (F-2). This work is in progress.

SEE ALSO...

CD98 (F-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgM kappa antibody that detects CD98 of mouse, rat and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP) and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-CD98 antibody (F-2) is available as the non-conjugated form. CD98 (4F2, CD98, MDU1, 4F2HC, 4T2HC, NACAE, SLC3A2) is a disulfide-linked heterodimer composed of a glycosylated heavy chain and a non-glycosylated light chain. CD98 is a scaffolding protein that interacts with basolaterally expressed amino acid transporters and β1 integrins and can alter amino acid transport and cell adhesion, migration and branching morphogenesis. The heavy chain is a type II integral membrane protein. CD98 is expressed on T cells and is upregulated upon T cell activation. CD98 is also present on monocytes and at lower levels on granulocytes, platelets and lymphocytes. Evidence suggests that CD98 may play a role in the regulation of T cell activation and proliferation. Alternate transcriptional splice variants, encoding different isoforms exist for the human CD98 gene.

Is this antibody specific to SLC3A2? Because CD98 usually refers to the heterodimer consisting of both SLC3A2 and SLC7A5, and I just wanted to clarify that "extracellular domain of CD98" means SLC3A2 alone? Thanks!

Asked by: Clarice
Thank you for your question. Yes, this mouse monoclonal antibody is raised against SLC3A2 alone.

How do I use the blocking peptide sc-390154 P? Can I load it on a gel as a positive control?

Asked by: TinTin
The blocking peptide is intended for use as a negative control by pre-adsorbing the mouse monoclonal antibody against the antigen. It is not recommended to be loaded on the gel as positive control as it is very small. For full protocol details on using the blocking peptide, please contact our Technical Services Department or view our online protocol here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/peptide-neutralization

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Doesn't detect any specific bands from mouse CNSI've tried to use this antibody to detect CD98 of mouse origin in cell lines and tissues from the brain and spinal cord, and I get no signal above that of the anti-IgM-HRP control using between 10 - 50 ug of lysates. I conclude that it does not work for western blotting from these tissues which contain the protein based on proteomics, and mRNA based on RNAseq studies.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good signalEvaluated this antibody against another antibody for rat CD98 as target and it was far superior, giving a strong band of predicted size in rat placenta. Also validated this by performing blots under non-reducing (CD98-heterodimers apparent at higher MW) and reducing (CD98 monomer) conditions with expected mobility shift clearly demonstrated, providing confidence in detection of CD98 target. Four stars given not five as a non-specific band ~25kDa seen in all samples, but otherwise very good antibody, which we will re-order.
