CD23 Antibody (BU38) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects CD23 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). CD23 (BU38) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. The human leukocyte differentiation antigen CD23 (FCE2) is a type II integral membrane glycoprotein predominantly expressed on mature B cells, monocytes, eosinophils, platelets, and dendritic cells, with expression in mice limited to mature B cells. CD23 functions as a low-affinity IgE receptor, playing a crucial role in mediating IgE-dependent cytotoxicity and phagocytosis by macrophages and eosinophils, which is vital for immune responses against allergens and parasites. CD23 forms oligomers, requiring cooperative binding of at least two lectin domains for high-affinity IgE binding, and is implicated in antigen presentation by B cells through interaction with CD40. Additionally, CD23 has been associated with the Fyn tyrosine kinase, and truncated CD23 can be secreted to act as a potent mitogenic growth factor. The ectodomain shedding of CD23 is catalyzed by ADAM8, ADAM15, and MDC-L, while intestinal cells coexpressing CD23a and CD23b exhibit distinct localizations in polarized cells, highlighting the complexity and regulatory mechanisms of CD23 in immune function.
