CD21 Antibody (HB-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects CD21 in human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and flow cytometry (FCM). CD21, also known as complement receptor type 2, is a type I integral membrane glycoprotein that plays a crucial role in the immune system by serving as a receptor for the C3d complement fragment and the Epstein-Barr virus. CD21 is primarily located on the surface of mature B cells, follicular dendritic cells, and certain epithelial cells, where CD21 is essential for modulating B cell activation and proliferation. CD21 on B cells enhances their response to foreign antigens by working in conjunction with the co-receptor CD19, which amplifies the signaling from the B cell antigen receptor. This interaction is vital for the adaptive immune response, as CD21 ensures that B cells can effectively recognize and respond to pathogens while maintaining a regulated response to prevent overactivation. Additionally, CD21 undergoes phosphorylation following B cell activation, further influencing CD21′s function and the overall immune response. With CD21′s significant role in B cell development and activation, anti-CD21 antibody (HB-5) is an invaluable tool for researchers studying immune responses and related disorders.
