CD15 Antibody (VIM-C6) is a mouse monoclonal IgM antibody that detects CD15 in human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and flow cytometry (FCM). CD15, also known as Lewis X or LeX, is a carbohydrate antigen synthesized by FucT-IV (alpha 1,3-fucosyltransferase IV) and is primarily located on the surface of leukocytes and certain tumor cells. This trisaccharide structure is crucial for its function as an adhesion molecule, facilitating calcium-mediated homotypic binding among cells. CD15 on the cell surface promotes strong self-aggregation, which is essential for various physiological processes, including immune response and inflammation. CD15 serves as a ligand for selectins, proteins that play a pivotal role in mediating leukocyte-specific interactions, thereby enhancing its importance in cell adhesion and migration during immune responses. CD15′s ability to mediate these interactions underscores its significance in both normal physiological functions and pathological conditions, making anti-CD15 antibody (VIM-C6) an invaluable tool for researchers studying cell adhesion mechanisms and their implications in health and disease.
