CD15 Antibody (HI98) is a mouse monoclonal IgM kappa light chain antibody that detects CD15 in mouse, rat, and human samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and flow cytometry (FCM). CD15, also known as Lewis X or LeX, is a carbohydrate antigen that plays a crucial role in cell adhesion and interaction, primarily found on the surface of leukocytes and certain tumor cells. This trisaccharide is synthesized by the action of fucosyltransferase IV (FucT-IV), which transfers an α-fucose residue onto the β-GlcNAc moiety of cellular N-acetyllactosamines. The presence of CD15 on cell surfaces is essential for mediating calcium-dependent homotypic binding, allowing cells with high CD15 expression to aggregate effectively in the presence of calcium ions. Furthermore, CD15 serves as a ligand for selectins, which are critical in facilitating leukocyte-specific interactions during immune responses. The ability of CD15 to promote cell adhesion and aggregation underscores its importance in various physiological processes, including inflammation and immune cell trafficking.
