CD15 Antibody (By87a) is a mouse monoclonal IgM antibody that detects CD15 in human samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and flow cytometry (FCM). CD15, also known as Lewis X or LeX, is a carbohydrate antigen synthesized by FucT-IV (alpha 1,3-fucosyltransferase IV) and is primarily located on the surface of leukocytes and certain tumor cells. This trisaccharide structure is crucial for its function as an adhesion molecule, facilitating calcium-mediated homotypic binding among cells. CD15 on the cell surface promotes strong self-aggregation, which is essential for various physiological processes, including immune responses and inflammation. Furthermore, CD15 serves as a ligand for selectins, proteins that play a pivotal role in mediating leukocyte-specific interactions, thereby enhancing CD15′s importance in cell adhesion and migration during immune responses. CD15 (By87a) antibody is an invaluable tool for researchers studying cell adhesion mechanisms and the role of fucosylation in cellular interactions.

Can CD15 (By87a): sc-53290 monoclonal antibody be used in IF or IHC with mouse tissue or cells? Will there be non-specific staining?

Asked by: Cweed
Thank you for your inquiry. The use of mouse monoclonal antibodies with mouse samples is very common and typically poses no problem. To eliminate any potential cross-reactivity of an anti-mouse secondary detection reagent, CD15 (By87a): sc-53290 is available in a variety of direct conjugations, such as HRP, PE, FITC and AlexaFluors.
