Caspase Inhibitor X is a non-peptide-based, reversible, and competitive inhibitor of caspase-3, -7 and -8 (Ki = 4.3 µM, 6.2 µM and 2.7 µM, respectively). The benzodioxane moiety is shown to fit in the ′aspartate hole′ of the caspase. Has been shown to potentially disrupt caspase-8 assisted cleavage of BID. Weakly affects the metalloprotease activity of anthrax lethal factor (~20 µM).
