QUICK LINKS

Carprofen is a non-steroidal antiinflammatory compound whose mechanism of action is dependent upon inhibiting the production of COX-2 and other sources of prostaglandins. Prostaglandins are lipid compounds that perform a wide range of biological functions. The study of carprofen and similar compounds can contribute to the broader field of enzymology by highlighting the importance of enzyme inhibitors in regulating biological pathways. In the context of materials science, the mechanisms by which carprofen interacts with biological molecules can inspire the design of biomimetic materials and coatings that modulate specific biochemical pathways.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from KarraschKarrasch, NM. et al. (PubMed 26246627) investigated the effects of preoperative oral administration of Carprofen on postoperative analgesia in dogs undergoing cutaneous tumor removal. Found that Carprofen, combined with pre-operative hydromorphone and rescue analgesia, resulted in satisfactory analgesia in the 24-hour postoperative period. -SCBT Publication Review
