Carboxy-PTIO, Sodium Salt reacts with nitric oxide at pH 7.4, which results in the generation of NO2-/NO3--with a rate constant of 1 x 104 M-1sec-1. Carboxy-PTIO, Sodium Salt prevents SIN-1 induced endothelial cell death and has potent therapeutic value in endotoxin shock through its nitric oxide scavenging action.
