Carbethoxyhexyl Imidazole is a TXA Synthase (Thromboxane Synthase) inhibitor. Thromboxane Synthase, or Thromboxane A Synthase 1 is an enzyme found in endoplasmic reticulum that catalyzes the conversion of prostaglandin H2 into thromboxane A2, a potent vasoconstrictor and platelet aggregation inducer. The enzyme is structurally classified in the cytochrome P450 superfamily, but it has differing function, possessing roles in cardiovascular processes. Inhibitors of TXA Synthase have been utilized as antiplatelet agents.
