QUICK LINKS

Captan, an agricultural fungicide, exhibits a reaction with sulfhydryl groups, leading to the release of thiophosgenes. These thiophosgenes have the potential to disrupt protein structures, causing denaturation. It is widely used for the control of fungal diseases in fruits, vegetables, and ornamental crops. It can prevent or manage various fungal diseases, including anthracnose, apple scab, brown rot, powdery mildew, and leaf spots. Additionally, captan has been associated with carcinogenic and teratogenic effects.
