    SEE ALSO...

Calpain 6 Antibody (1395CT446.22.5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects Calpain 6 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and flow cytometry (FCM). Anti-Calpain 6 antibody (1395CT446.22.5) is available as a non-conjugated format. Calpain 6, also known as CAPN6, is a member of the calpain family of calcium-activated thiol proteases, which play crucial roles in intracellular protein processing and signal transduction. Notably, CAPN6 is primarily expressed in the placenta, where CAPN6 is believed to be involved in embryogenesis, highlighting CAPN6′s importance in developmental processes. Structurally, CAPN6 is unique among its family members due to the presence of a T-domain that is homologous to the Caenorhabditis elegans protein Tra-3, which may suggest a specialized function in cellular processes. Unlike other calpains, CAPN6 lacks the cysteine and histidine residues necessary for protease activity, indicating that CAPN6 may have alternative roles in cellular dynamics, such as actin organization and microtubule stability. Overexpression of CAPN6 has been linked to cytokinesis failure and the formation of microtubule bundles, resulting in cells with multiple nuclei, which underscores CAPN6′s potential impact on cell division and organization.
