Calmegin Antibody (B-11) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects Calmegin protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-Calmegin antibody (B-11) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Calmegin, a member of the calreticulin family, is primarily located in the endoplasmic reticulum membrane of testicular cells, where Calmegin serves as a crucial chaperone protein involved in the complex process of spermatogenesis. This single-pass type I membrane protein is essential for the proper folding and maturation of proteins within the endoplasmic reticulum, ensuring that sperm cells develop correctly. Notably, Calmegin is transcriptionally regulated by both CpG methyltransferase and histone deacetylase, highlighting Calmegin′s intricate control during spermatogenesis. Calmegin is first expressed during meiotic prophase in spermatocytes and plays a vital role in facilitating the binding of sperm to the egg′s zona pellucida through interactions with specific sperm membrane proteins, such as fertilin a and b. A deficiency in Calmegin can lead to male sterility; however, if the zona pellucida is partially dissected and fertilization occurs in vitro, the resulting egg can still develop normally, underscoring Calmegin′s critical function in reproductive biology.
