QUICK LINKS

C24:1 Ceramide is a naturally occurring ceramide. Production of ceramide occurs when hydrolysis of sphingomyelin by a specific isoform of phospholipase C, appropriately named sphingomyelinase. Ceramide mediate a lot of different biological activities. It is involved in cell cycle regulation, apoptosis, inflammation, and stress response.
