SEE ALSO...

c-Kit Antibody (2B8) is a rat monoclonal IgG2b antibody engineered to target the c-Kit protein, a vital receptor tyrosine kinase that plays a crucial role in various cellular processes including chemotaxis, cell proliferation, apoptosis, and adhesion. The c-Kit protein, also known as CD117, is essential for the development and function of mast cells and hematopoietic stem cells, making c-Kit indispensable for normal hematopoiesis and immune responses. The importance of c-Kit extends to its involvement in oncogenic processes, where mutations and dysregulation of c-Kit are linked to the growth and progression of several cancers, such as gastrointestinal stromal tumors and certain leukemias. Understanding and targeting c-Kit is therefore critical for both basic biological research and the development of targeted cancer therapies. c-Kit monoclonal antibody (2B8) is raised against bone marrow mast cells of mouse origin and demonstrates robust reactivity in both mouse and rat species when utilized in immunofluorescence (IF) and flow cytometry (FCM) applications. Anti-c-Kit monoclonal antibody (2B8) serves as a valuable tool for researchers investigating the mechanisms of hematopoiesis, mast cell biology, and oncogenesis, as well as for those developing and testing new therapeutic strategies aimed at c-Kit related pathways.

Could you please give us the details of specific epitope site of ckit that the c-Kit Antibody (2B8): sc-19619 recognizes. extra cellular domain or intracelllar c cterminal domain?

Asked by: Anonymous
Thank you for your question. The exact epitope region of c-Kit Antibody (2B8): sc-19619 has not been determined yet. There is no information on whether it binds the intra- or extracellular part of its target protein. If you are looking for a c-Kit antibody that binds extracellularly you might want to check out c-Kit Antibody (E-1): sc-17806 or see the C-terminus-specific c-Kit Antibody (E-3): sc-365504 and c-Kit Antibody (H-10): sc-393910 if you are looking for an antibody staining cytoplasm.

Can c-Kit (2B8): sc-19619 monoclonal antibody be used in IF or IHC with mouse tissue or cells? Will there be non-specific staining?

Asked by: DefinitelyNotMatt
Thank you for your inquiry. The use of mouse monoclonal antibodies with mouse samples is very common and typically poses no problem. To eliminate any potential cross-reactivity of an anti-mouse secondary detection reagent, c-Kit (2B8): sc-19619 is available in a variety of direct conjugations, such as HRP, PE, FITC and AlexaFluors.
