C/EBP α Antibody (D-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgM antibody that detects C/EBP alpha protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). C/EBP α Antibody (D-5) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. C/EBP alpha protein, a member of the CCAAT/enhancer-binding protein family, plays a crucial role in regulating gene expression across various tissues, including liver, adipose tissue, lung, and intestine. C/EBP alpha is involved in the differentiation of several cell types, such as liver cells and adipocytes, and is essential for terminal differentiation of these cells. C/EBP alpha structure features a basic region/leucine zipper motif that facilitates specific binding to DNA, allowing C/EBP alpha to act as a transcription factor regulating genes associated with growth and metabolism. Growth hormone activates C/EBP alpha, increasing C/EBP alpha mRNA and protein levels while enhancing DNA-binding activity, thereby influencing expression of genes like prolactin. C/EBP alpha function in terminally differentiated, growth-arrested cells underscores C/EBP alpha significance in maintaining cellular identity and function, making anti-C/EBP alpha antibody (D-5) an invaluable tool for researchers studying gene regulation and cellular differentiation.

Is the epitope shared with porcine cEBPalpha? is it likely it also works with porcine cells?

Asked by: Maria
Thank you for your question. C/EBP α Antibody (D-5): sc-365318 is only recommended for detection of C/EBP α p42 of mouse, rat and human origin by WB, IP, IF and ELISA. We do not have data to support viability with porcine cell or tissue samples.

Can the TransCruz reagent sc-365318 X be used for applications other than ChIP or Gel Shift, such as Western Blot?

Asked by: AbPolly
Thank you for your question. Yes, the X form of the antibody can be used for all the recommended applications - just remember to dilute further since it is 10 times more concentrated than the standard form.
