QUICK LINKS

Butylat is a herbicide that functions by inhibiting the growth of unwanted plants. It works by disrupting the synthesis of fatty acids in the targeted plants, leading to their inability to grow and survive. Butylat interferes with the activity of the enzyme acetohydroxyacid synthase, which is for the production of branched-chain amino acids in plants. By inhibiting this enzyme, butylat disrupts the normal metabolic processes in the targeted plants, ultimately leading to their death. This mechanism of action makes butylat an effective for controlling the growth of weeds in agricultural and experimental applications. Its ability to target the growth processes of unwanted plants without affecting other organisms makes it a asset in related to plant biology and agriculture.
