QUICK LINKS

Bromophos-methyl is an organophosphorus insecticide. As an organic thiophosphate, Bromophos acts by binding to and deactivating the enzyme acetylcholinesterase (AChE). This interaction with cholinesterase inhibitor pesticides leads to the accumulation of acetylcholine. The primary toxic mechanism of organophosphorus pesticides, including Bromophos, involves the inhibition of esterase enzymes, particularly cholinesterase. Additionally, organophosphorus pesticides can indirectly interact with acetylcholine′s biochemical receptors.
