QUICK LINKS

Bromomethyl phenyl sulfone is an alkylsulfonyl amide known for its hypoglycemic properties. It is a strong antibacterial agent, inhibiting bacterial growth by attaching to their ribosomes and preventing protein synthesis. When reacted with potassium thiophenoxide in dimethyl formamide, it produces phenylthiomethyl phenyl sulfone. When it interacts with KOH in DMSO at ambient temperature, it results in methyl phenyl sulfone and dibromomethyl phenyl sulfone.
