QUICK LINKS

Bromodichloromethane, a non-polar organic solvent, used as a stationary phase in solid phase microextraction (SPME), facilitating the chromatographic analysis of diverse compounds. In addition to its role as a solvent, it exhibits properties as an anti-inflammatory agent and disinfectant. Bromodichloromethane shows inhibitory effects on bacterial growth, including oral pathogens, attributed to its ability to impede the activity of sorbitol dehydrogenase. This action is thought to contribute to its anti-inflammatory properties. Moreover, this compound has been used as a reagent in organic synthesis, as a solvent for chromatography, and as a solvent for extraction. Bromodichloromethane has been used in the synthesis of brominated compounds and in the study of the environmental impact of halogenated hydrocarbons.
