Brimonidine Tartrate is an AR (alpha 2 receptor) agonist that acts via decreasing aqueous humor synthesis. In research applications, Brimonidine Tartrate′s ability to bind to and activate alpha adrenergic receptors makes it useful for understanding the modulation of these receptors and their role in physiological processes. in vitro studies are used to investigate its effects on cell proliferation in culture, on regulation of intracellular calcium in cells, and on the regulation of cell death. It has also been used to study its effects on the regulation of gene expression in cells, and to investigate its effects on the regulation of cell adhesion. Brimonidine Tartrate is an imidazoline derivative.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from HarunHarun-Or-Rashid, M. et al. (PubMed 26377080) found that 2-adrenergic receptor ( 2R) stimulation via the 2R agonsit Brimonidine Tartrate attenuated injury-induced ERK activation and dedifferentiation of M ller cells as seen by decreased phospho-ERK, expression of transitin, and retinal progenitor cell genes. -SCBT Publication Review
