Borrelia burgdorferi garinii Antibody (Bg14) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects Borrelia burgdorferi garinii protein by western blotting (WB) and immunofluorescence (IF). Anti-Borrelia burgdorferi garinii antibody (Bg14) is available as a non-conjugated format. Borrelia burgdorferi garinii protein plays a crucial role in Lyme disease pathogenesis, a vector-borne illness caused by spirochete Borrelia burgdorferi, transmitted to humans through Ixodes ricinus complex tick bites. Among various B. burgdorferi species, B. garinii is particularly significant as one of two major European strains, characterized by gram-negative and helical structure. B. garinii causes neurological symptoms in infected individuals, including back and leg pain and partial facial paralysis, primarily due to presence in mammalian cerebrospinal fluid. B. garinii interaction with neuronal cells occurs through outer surface protein A and cell-bound proteoglycans, essential for attachment and pathogenicity. Patients infected with B. garinii are typically older, showing trunk skin lesions, and experience shorter incubation periods compared to other Borrelia strains, resulting in higher rates of local systemic symptoms and abnormal liver function.
