Boc-Lys(Tfa)-AMC is a derivative of the amino acid lysine, which has been modified to contain a tert-butyloxycarbonyl (Boc) group and a trifluoroacetic acid (Tfa) group. The Tfa group acts as an acid catalyst. Boc-Lys(Tfa)-AMC is a fluorogenic substrate for the assaying of histone deacetylase (HDAC) 4, 5 and 7 activity in a protease-coupled assay. It is also a suitable substrate for HDAC 8. The deacylated product Boc-Lys-AMC corresponds to I-1880. Additionally, Boc-Lys(Tfa)-AMC is an important reagent in the synthesis of peptides, proteins, and other peptidomimetics. Furthermore, it is employed in the study of enzyme inhibition, as it may act to be a potent inhibitor of serine proteases.
